COVID-19 Procedures

Cool Beans Therapy Clubhouse will be providing one-on-one treatment and Skill Improvement Groups with the following safety precautions and changes as recommended by state and local governments throughout Phase 1 and 2 of reopening our state.

COVID-19 Procedures Update

Phase 2: Skill Improvement Groups postponed! On July 14, 2020 Governor Roy Cooper extended Phase 2 of the Stay-At-Home order for 3 more weeks and also provided some clarity for school districts to reopen in August requiring precautions noted under Plan B to be used at minimum. In consideration of these updates, CBTC will postpone the next round of Skill Improvement Groups until after the school year has begun. This will hopefully allow time for parents and students to adjust to the new school routine. The health and well-being of your family and ours are top priority. As such, bringing together more than 1 household at the same time is more risk than we are willing to take.

Cool Beans Therapy Clubhouse will be providing one-on-one services with the following safety precautions and changes as recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), state and local governments:

  1. The therapist will apply hand sanitizer at the start of each session as well as wear a mask throughout the entirety of all in-person sessions.
  2. All equipment will be thoroughly sanitized before and after each session. All surfaces (i.e. door handles, tabletops, puzzles, games, equipment) will continue to be cleaned and disinfected prior to each session, whether or not it was used in a previous session
  3. If anyone in your household has displayed a fever, flu-like symptoms, or has been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID19 please stay home to self-quarantine and cancel any in-person appointments you have at Cool Beans. I will be happy to work with you to schedule Telehealth sessions throughout your household quarantine, postpone sessions, or provide practice activities and resources to continue working toward goals. Parents will be sent a form through the CBTC portal acknowledging the COVID19 precautions and protocols being put in place at Cool Beans Therapy Clubhouse and confirming that ALL persons in your household have not displayed a fever, flu-like symptoms, or been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID19. In order to provide families assurance that CBTC is providing the safest environment possible, services will only be provided to persons with a signed COVID19 acknowledgment form on file.
  4. All children entering CBTC will have temperatures taken at the start of each session. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or above will be asked to return home and that session will be cancelled at that time. Date, time, and temperatures will be documented in session notes to maintain compliance and accountability with state mandates and CDC recommended safety precautions.
  5. Assistance will be provided to apply hand sanitizer at the beginning of each session for anyone requiring assistance.
  6. CBTC whole-heartedly believes parent participation and carryover is key to progressing and achieving goals. With this in mind, ONE parent will be allowed to attend treatment sessions with the following stipulations:
    1. Upon entering CBTC, parents will maintain a safe social distance of at least 6 feet with the therapist, and move directly to the parent waiting area.
    2. Siblings, friends, or persons other than the accompanying parent will not be allowed to wait inside CBTC. Anyone other than the client and accompanying parent is asked to leave the building until the end of the session.
    3. A temperature for parents will not be taken, in order to maintain social distancing, but parents are expected to apply hand sanitizer at the beginning of each session.

Phase 1 (May 11 until May 22)

There are no Skill Groups during Phase 1!

  1. All parents are asked to keep your child at home or call at your earliest convenience to cancel a session if your child or anyone in the household has a temperature, cough, congestion, runny nose, or any symptoms associated with COVID-19.
  2. Stagger appointments: No group sessions will be provided at this time. Only one client will be seen at any given time and all client sessions will be staggered to maintain a 30-minute window between sessions. This will allow time to clean and disinfect all equipment and minimize potential for client contact.
  3. All surfaces (i.e. door handles, tabletops, puzzles, equipment) will continue to be cleaned and disinfected prior to each session, whether or not it was used in a previous session.
  4. All parents are being asked to escort their child to The Clubhouse entrance. Once your child is with the therapist, parents are being asked to return to your car for the duration of the session. Although we prefer parents to be able to observe the session to ask questions and improve carryover at home, everyone's health and safety is our priority and limiting the number of persons in the Clubhouse is recommended. Parents can return at the scheduled end time to pick up your child from The Clubhouse.
  5. At the start and conclusion of each session, both the therapist and the child will use hand sanitizer, provided by Cool Beans, for disinfection.
  6. Parents will be sent a message through the client portal for a session summary/overview to limit contact.

Phase 2 (May 25 until June 5)

  1. All parents are asked to keep your child at home or call at your earliest convenience to cancel a session or notify the therapist of absence from a group if your child or anyone in the household has a temperature, cough, congestion, runny nose, or any symptoms associated with COVID-19 (Note: You will be asked if anyone in your household has been ill with any of these symptoms in the last 7 days prior to registering for a group).
  2. Limited group sizes: All Skill Improvement Groups are capped at 10 participants, with many allowing for no more than 6-8 children. To limit the number of people inside The Clubhouse, all parents are being asked to wait in their car for the duration of the class time. Although we prefer parents to be able to observe the session to ask questions and improve carryover at home, everyone's health and safety is our priority and limiting the number of persons in the Clubhouse is recommended.
  3. Groups and one-on-one sessions will be staggered to maintain a 30-minute window between sessions. This will allow time to clean and disinfect all equipment. All surfaces (i.e. door handles, tabletops, puzzles, games, equipment) will continue to be cleaned and disinfected prior to each session, whether or not it was used in a previous session.
  4. All parents are being asked to escort their child to The Clubhouse entrance. Once your child is with the therapist, a temperature will be taken using a no-contact, infrared thermometer to assure all group participants are fever free. Any child with a fever will be asked to return home, but may attend the next session barring no fever for at least 48 hours. Parents can return at the scheduled end time to pick up your child from The Clubhouse.
  5. At the start and conclusion of each session, both the therapist and each child will use hand sanitizer, provided by Cool Beans, for disinfection.
  6. Parents will be emailed with a summary of the visit to limit contact.
